Reby McGarden is a secondary protagonist in the Fairy Tail anime/manga series. She is a member of the Fairy Tail guild and is the leader of the Shadow Gear team. Previously, she was part of the Magic Council’s Surveillance Unit, but after Avatar’s defeat, she decided to join Fairy Tail.
Appearance
Reby is a small, slender girl, shorter than average for her age. She has shoulder-length blue hair, with bangs that reach her eyebrows. She usually ties her hair with a colorful bandana around her head. Over time, her hair has become wavier and wilder, with strands falling to the sides of her face. Reby wears a variety of outfits, but prefers dresses and tank tops, which reveal the guild mark on her left shoulder. When performing tasks such as research, she wears reading glasses and ties her hair back to keep it out of her face.
Personality
Reby is a cheerful, kind girl. She gets along easily with the other members of her guild. Her kindness manifests itself in her aversion to fighting for no reason. She prefers to avoid conflict. She is also forgiving, and forgave Gajil Redfox for the torture he inflicted on her and her teammates before the war between Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord. She even agreed to let him become her partner in the S-class promotion test.
Reby has a passion for reading, which quickly brought her closer to Lucy Heartfilia, who shares the same passion. She was the only one to read Lucy’s novel with her permission, a testament to the mutual trust they share. However, Reby can sometimes be competitive. Before the start of the S-class promotion event, she rewrote Fried Justin’s runes for the whole ship, but later revealed that she had actually rewritten them just for Gajil and herself. Reby is also one of the guild’s most mature members, as she was the first to drop the S-class promotion test in order to foster unity among guild members, while some didn’t want to give it up at all.
