FLARE CORONA (フレア・コロナ FUREA KORONA): A MAGE AND FORMER EMINENT MEMBER OF THE RAVEN TAIL GUILD
APPARENCE
Flare is a young woman of medium height with pale skin. She has long, dark red hair, usually styled in two thick braids that come down to her waist. When she activates her Purple Hair magic, her loose hair becomes flowing, wavy and incredibly long, which she can manipulate as she pleases. Her lips are full, and her reddish eyes are always wide open, giving her face a slightly disturbed expression. She has visible bags under her eyes, which contribute to her distinctive appearance.
She bears an “X”-shaped scar on her left shoulder, and her guild mark, Raven Tail, is located on the upper part of her right breast. After Raven Tail disbanded, she replaced this mark with that of her home village, Village du Soleil.
Her figure is enveloped in a revealing crimson dress, held in place by halter straps, which leaves most of her upper body exposed: her back, sides and much of her cleavage, which reaches down almost to her navel (and therefore part of her guild mark). The dress comes down to her calves, with a puffed skirt and large slit on the right side, allowing Flare to move her legs freely. A lighter section, in the form of a belt, is sewn to the dress. She also wears long gloves that match the dress, reaching almost to her shoulders, with a small notch on the top outer edge. Initially, she wore simple light-colored boots, but during her battle with Lucy Heartfilia, she opted for a pair of dark-colored high-heeled shoes.

PERSONALITY
Flare always wears a strange, absent expression on her face, giving the impression that she’s not interested in what’s going on around her. She has a teasing and disturbing demeanor, repeatedly mockingly calling Lucy Heartfilia “Blondie”. Her sadistic nature comes to the fore in her fight with Lucy. Flare is extremely attached to her hair, a blessing from the Eternal Flame, which she describes as “sunset red”. She gets angry if anyone damages it when she uses her Crimson Hair magic. This reveals her sadism and injustice: during her battle with Lucy, after claiming that her hair had been damaged too much, she secretly threatened Aska Connell with her own hair, ordering Lucy not to react if she wanted the girl to survive. Flare also seemed to have animosity towards blonde girls, calling Lucy a “stupid blonde”.
Later, after being disqualified from the Magic Tournament with her team, she shows a more shy and gentle side. She follows Lucy to Ryuzetsu Land to apologize, blushing as she does so and showing remorse for her despicable actions. As an inhabitant of the Village of the Sun, Flare is very protective of her saviors and friends, the giants, and quickly becomes angry when their precious protector, the Eternal Flame, is threatened.
HISTORY
Flare was found and raised by the giants of the Village of the Sun from an early age. As a recipient of the Eternal Flame, she developed the ability to manipulate her hair at will. Eventually, however, she sensed an obvious difference between herself and the giants, and decided to leave the village to meet people of her own stature. However, her lack of knowledge of the outside world made her fearful. When she met the members of Raven Tail, she happily joined them, ignoring their malevolent nature and animosity towards Fairy Tail, which she thought was a natural attitude outside her village.
MAGIC AND CAPABILITIES
Hair magic: Flare has the ability to manipulate her long red hair at will. She can free them from their usual braids (both at the same time or just one at a time). She can use her hair in a variety of ways, including grabbing enemies to strike them. Her hair is very strong, able to dig into the sand to trap Lucy Heartfilia’s feet and lift her into the air. It can also stop a bullet in mid-air without damaging it. Flare can extend her hair over long distances, reaching the Domus Flau stands from the center of the arena.
However, her hair can dissolve or become damaged, as seen with Lucy and her boots. Flare’s hair can also be used for defense, taking on different forms and manipulating its temperature to make it burn. When she attacks, her hair burns and scorches her opponents. One drawback of this magic is that the hair is vulnerable to sharp weapons, such as Cancer’s scissors.
Hair Wolf Crook (髪しぐれ狼牙 Kamishigure Rōga): Flare elongates her hair in spirals to create a large, realistic and ferocious wolf. The power of this spell remains unknown, as the creature’s hair was cut off by Cancer during her battle with Lucy.
Hair mark: Flare can transform a small, thin section of her hair into a smoldering, burning form, which she can mark with a red-hot iron on a surface to leave a mark. She created a replica of the Raven Tail symbol, which she intended to mark on Lucy Heartfilia’s skin, specifically on her Fairy Tail mark. However, Natsu prevented her from completing this action by overriding her control over Aska Connell.
Hair Firefly Flames (髪しぐれ蛍火 Kamishigure Hotarubi): Flare uses small pieces of her own hair, ignites them and causes them to explode around her target.
Hair Peacock (髪しぐれ千鳥 Kamishigure Chidori) : Flare elongates her hair and fires several straight bundles of hair at her target like bullets.
Enhanced reflexes: Flare possesses great speed and agility, able to easily avoid Taurus attacks. She can also use her hair to cast spells in mid-air after being thrown. She can stop a bullet in mid-air thanks to the speed at which she can move her hair.
