NICHIYA (ニチヤ NICHIYA) IS THE EDOLAS HOMOLOGIST OF ICHIYA VANDALEI KOTOBUKI. HE WAS CAPTAIN OF THE EXTALIA IMPERIAL GUARD. ON EARTH, NICHIYA BECOMES A MEMBER OF BLUE PEGASUS BY USING A RABBIT COSTUME.
APPARENCE
Nichiya appears to have the same facial features as Ichiya, but he also has cat ears and whiskers, which are unique to Exceeds. He also has a distinctive large head, with orange fur arranged in a wavy pattern with a fringe hanging over his forehead. He also wears a red hat with a cat symbol on it. As captain of the Extalia army, he wears a royal blue coat with a brown belt. He also wears a two-panel apron with the Extalia army logo printed on it, dark green pants and brown boots. He usually carries a sword in a scabbard. Like Ichiya, Nichiya is most often seen standing with his index and middle fingers pointed.
As a member of Blue Pegasus, Nichiya wears a full rabbit suit, blue in color, with a blue Blue Pegasus crest in the center of his bellows, inside a dark circle. Curiously, when wearing this costume, Nichiya looks like a very tall person, despite his small stature. How he is able to move inside the suit is still unknown, as his legs and arms are too small to reach the respective parts of the suit. The costume’s head has two long ears that always remain raised, two oval eyes with yellow sclera and brown iris with small eyebrows set away from them. Lines protrude from the eye boundaries on its upper part, and the oval lens is slightly displaced upwards. His jaw is white, composed of a smiling open mouth with two rabbit-like teeth and a red tongue, as well as a triangular nose.
The costume also gives full movement to the fingers, allowing Nichiya to do the signature two-finger posture of the Blue Pegasus Trimens. The feet are also covered by the costume, giving Nichiya the overall appearance of a person in a bunny suit. Strangely, there’s an inconsistency about the whiskers on his head: in his first appearance, he has two thin whiskers on each cheek, but in later panels, they’ve been removed. However, the final depictions in the manga, as well as those in the anime, bring back the whiskers. To get out of the suit, Nichiya simply removes his head from the suit. Inside the suit, Nichiya wears a long-sleeved purple tuxedo jacket with a light-colored undershirt and tie. He still has Extalia’s army hat on his head, but now uses shoes instead of boots.
PERSONALITY
Nichiya is very loyal to Extalia and the queen, whom he considers a god. He also hates humans (even their smell) and detests the Fallen. Like Ichiya, he’s also a fan of perfumes and scents. He is highly respected in the army.
When using the rabbit suit, Nichiya maintains a calmer, more cheerful personality whatever the situation, keeping silent most of the time.
