MangaLovers respects the intellectual property rights of others and complies with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 ("DMCA"). This page describes how copyright owners (or their authorized agents) can submit takedown notices and how counter-notifications can be filed.

1. Designated Copyright Agent

Submit DMCA notices to:

  • Subject line: "[DMCA] Takedown Notice — manga-lovers.com"

Notices sent without the correct subject line may be delayed.

2. What a Valid Takedown Notice Must Include

To be effective under the DMCA, your written notice must include all of the following:

  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list if multiple works are at one site).
  • Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with information sufficient to locate it — typically the full URL of each infringing chapter or page on manga-lovers.com.
  • Your contact information: full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.

Incomplete notices may delay processing.

3. Our Response

Upon receipt of a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the identified material, generally within 5 business days, and notify the user who posted or uploaded it. The user may submit a counter-notification as described below.

4. Counter-Notification

If you believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification containing:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the material that was removed and the location at which it appeared before removal.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Your full legal name, address, and telephone number.
  • A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court in the district where you are located (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original takedown notice or their agent.

5. Repeat Infringer Policy

It is our policy to terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers of copyright.

6. Misrepresentation

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees.
