The Dragon Ball saga is full of overpowered characters. Aliens who annihilate planets, galaxy-destroying gods, universe-shaking angels… And then there’s Zen’ô, that little ant-like being with the blue and purple face. Zen’ô is basically the god of Dragon Ball’s multiverse, the Omni-King, and the supreme ruler of all that has been or will be. 🌌

With such a formidable character, it’s easy to be impressed. However, Zen’ô sports the appearance of a gentle child, at least when he’s not delivering entire worlds to their fate. In any case, this amusing and original-looking character will not leave you indifferent, especially during episodes of the Dragon Ball Super series where he makes a few appearances! So, to better understand who this enigmatic character is, here are 10 facts about Zen’ô, the most powerful being in the Dragon Ball saga!

10. THE MEANING OF THE NAME ZEN’Ô

If you’re new to the Dragon Ball Super series, have already caught a glimpse of Zen’ô and are wondering just how powerful this guy can be, then his name will give you a clue. But unless you’re fluent in Japanese, we’ll enlighten you: the name Zen’ô is very similar to the Japanese word Zenno, which literally means “Almighty” or “King of All”. 👑

So his name in itself already gives you a few clues that he’s not such a random character from the Dragon Ball saga, but rather a supreme deity who reigns over the creation of all the anime and manga universes.

9. the hidden message on his outfit

Zen’ô may sometimes seem innocent and unconcerned, but when it comes to the nature of his position as King of All, he takes it very seriously. As ruler of the Omniverse, Zen’ô’s main objective is to ensure balance, which he displays without the reader/viewer noticing – unless they can read Japanese. 🥋

Zen’ô’s typical outfit combines a magenta and yellow coat with similarly colored shoes and pants. Under his coat, he wears a black and white shirt with the kanji 全 prominently displayed. This translates as the word “All”.

Although it’s not clear on the surface, Zen’ô’s habit of removing people and universes from existence probably has to do with his desire to manage a perfect Omniverse. He never makes his intentions absolutely clear, but he continues to do his duty, regardless of the times.

8. WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES MUST HE MANAGE?

As powerful as Zen’ô is, we notice in the anime that he’s also a relatively childlike character who gets bored easily. Not exactly the best candidate to rule the 12 universes, eh? 😅

That’s why Zen’ô entrusts all his duties to the high priest, who employs a group of angels in charge of training the gods of destruction, who in turn are the superiors of the lower gods responsible for the day-to-day running and maintenance of all the universes. In this way, Zen’ô manages to delegate all responsibilities and spend his time playing and relaxing. 🏐

7. IS ZEN’Ô FILLED WITH WISDOM?

Zen’ô is often described as an immature and childish kid, but also diabolical, as he would annihilate a universe if upset by any external event… But later events have shown that despite acting like a child, Zen’ô also has a strong sense of right and wrong, and he also created the Tournament of Power so he could test the character of the contestants. 🤯

Ultimately, Zen’ô was counting on the tournament champion using his last wish to bring back all the destroyed universes, as it would be the only moral thing to do. If the champion had tried to use his wish for a selfish reason, Zen’ô would have destroyed all reality as punishment, regardless of which universe won the tournament. 🏆

6. ZEN’Ô: A NON-COMBATANT

Zen’ô is perhaps the only important character in the series who isn’t really a fighter in the anime sense (yes, we remind you that the series is dedicated to fighting!). He has no interest or experience in martial arts. He wasn’t fast enough to keep up with Dyspo’s attacks during the tournament in Dragon Ball Super, and he sees it as something fun through his drama (the destruction of an entire universe) rather than a test of combative skill.

It’s ironic that the most powerful warriors, gods and angels with the highest martial skills are totally powerless against the Omni-King, who can simply wipe them out with a snap of his fingers. 💨 By the way, you can check out our TOP 10 races in Dragon Ball to get an idea of their respective powers.

In any case, don’t let his appearance fool you: Zen’ô is not a god to be trifled with. While he won’t jump into an arena to trade blows with you, he could just as easily wipe you out of existence… POOF! 😅

5. THE LIMITS OF ZEN’Ô

With such a powerful figure, who strikes terror into all who meet him, even the gods of destruction, it’s hard to believe that there are any limits to his power. And yet, Zen’ô has shown that he isn’t exactly all-powerful. As you read above, he wasn’t fast enough to keep up with Dyspo’s attacks during the Tournament of Power.

Furthermore, after destroying Zamasu and the entire multiverse in the future, Zen’ô was unable to recreate a new reality and simply existed in a state of uncertainty until Goku brought him back to the present. Whether these limitations are due to Zen’ô’s limited abilities or simply because he doesn’t care enough to do more, either way, they show the limits of his power. ⏳

4. THE HABITAT OF ZEN’Ô

When you’re the king of all the universes in the Omniverse, it’s important to live in a place worthy of your status, isn’t it? Zen’ô’s palace isn’t located in any one universe, but outside them all.

Zen’ô’s palace is not only a magnificent building, it’s also shaped like the kanji “全”, which is the same symbol as the one on his garment. This style continues his overall theme of balance and supremacy and suits him perfectly. We don’t know exactly where Zen’ô’s palace is, but given that it exists outside the 12 universes, its location isn’t necessarily important. What matters most is that his palace sits atop a giant jellyfish! It’s located somewhere between golden clouds, in a space-like setting. ☁️

Wherever it is, it’s so far from ordinary realms that even angels moving at lightning speed take two full days to reach it. The palace floats just above the surface of the jellyfish and is surrounded by 12 stone pillars. Above each of these pillars is a unique universe, effectively placing Zen’ô’s home at the center of the Omniverse, with access to each of the 12 surrounding universes. Inside the palace, there’s a dark void, lit by a luminous floor and dotted with white pillars scattered around the enclosure. 🏠

3. THE VICTIMS OF ZEN’Ô

There are many characters in the Dragon Ball saga who have caused great destruction in the different universes. For example, Cell has killed many powerful warriors, Freezer has conquered planets and killed millions of inhabitants, and Beerus has decimated civilizations he didn’t like.

Yet none of these feats come close to that of Zen’ô, who literally erased all reality and everything it would contain in the future in order to stop Zamasu.

If you’d like to know more about Zamasu, we invite you to check out our ultimate guide to Goku Black!

So, to sum up the situation, while some villains count millions, even billions of victims, the death toll caused by Zen’ô simply includes… everyone and everything that exists in the future. 🎇

2. THE POWER OF ZEN’Ô

So far, we’ve talked about Zen’ô’s incredible power, which is incomparable to that of other villains. Yet he’s still not the most powerful character. That title actually goes to Tori-Bot, the representation of the series’ creator in the Dragon Ball universe: Akira Toriyama. And a little anecdote: he’s depicted wearing a gas mask, because Toriyama has always hated showing his face in public!

Although Tori-Bot is mainly used as a secondary illustration in certain scenes of the original Dragon Ball, Z, Super and even GT, a bit like a cameo, he is officially the strongest character in Dragon Ball. 🥇

As creator of the series, he can erase anyone or anything from existence simply by not drawing them or having them die if he wishes, including Zen’ô. At the end of the day, Zen’ô is just a fictional character, while Tori-Bot remains the creator of the god of creation himself. 😇

1. THE MOST SOLITAR GOD

Although Zen’ô inspires fear and respect in all who meet him, it’s understandably difficult for him to make friends who don’t fear being disintegrated at the slightest misunderstanding. His level of supremacy in the Omniverse makes him virtually unknown to lower forms of life, so that hardly anyone even knows he exists. That’s why Zen’ô is so fond of Goku, because he’s the only one who treats him like a friend rather than an unapproachable god-king. 💟

In the Dragon Ball Super series, it has been made clear that Zen’ô leads a very solitary life and simply longs for companionship and entertainment. The Tournament of Power he has created is precisely designed to provide him with entertainment and allow him to meet the strongest champions the universes have to offer. 🎁

CONCLUSION

As the ruler of existence, Zen’ô is above all other beings in the 12 universes and throughout time. He is second only to himself, thanks to his incarnation brought back to the present by Goku, but the two have equivalent power. ⚖️

There’s no shortage of powerful characters in the Dragon Ball saga, but even the gods of destruction, the Supreme Kais, the Kais and all the inhabitants of the 12 universes pale in comparison to the Great Zen’ô, the Omni-King, the almighty. Throughout his more than 8 million years on the throne as King of all reality, Zen’ô has played a major role in shaping the Omniverse.

His penchant for erasing anything that didn’t suit him led to the destruction of six entire universes, and his future self didn’t hesitate to destroy an entire future timeline. There is no other being in the Omniverse with this level of power, and the very nature of the Omniverse suggests that there never will be. Be that as it may, Zen’ô is and always will be the highest being in all the Dragon Ball universes combined, his future self his only equal.
