Former Eau Hashira; introduced to Tanjiro and Nezuko by his pupil Giyu. At first, he perceives Tanjiro’s friendly nature, but agrees to train him. As training progresses, he grows closer to Tanjiro and Nezuko, and tears of joy flow from his eyes when Tanjiro returns alive from the Demon Slayer exam, being the first to pass after a long series of deaths. Since then, he has closely followed their progress. He made a promise to the Pillars: if Nezuko were to devour a human being, then Tanjiro, Giyu and himself would kill her and each other in atonement.
