Orihime Inoue was perceived as a Ryoka by the Soul Society, but after the conclusion of the Winter War, she became one of their unofficial allies.

After graduating from high school and his friends leaving, Yasutora Sado embraced a career as a professional mixed martial arts fighter, while Uryū Ishida became the director of his father’s hospital. For her part, Orihime embarked on a brief adventure as a printmaking idol, then turned to a singing career for a few years. She became world-famous as a Japanese pop star under the name “Princess Oribana” (織花姫, Oribana-hime; literally “Princess of Woven Flowers”). Orihime subsequently married Ichigo Kurosaki and gave birth to a son named Kazui Kurosaki. She now resides with her family in her hometown.

PRESENTATION

Orihime, of average height for a girl of her age, far exceeds most women younger, older or around the same age as her, thanks to a slender but curvy figure that’s accentuated by her generous bosom, one of her most remarkable physical features. She has deep, dark-brown eyes and long, burnt-orange hair that reaches her waist. Orihime is known to wear her hair in a variety of ways, mainly with the help of her make-up team as a pop star, but she generally wears her hair in a fringe tucked behind her ears with bobby pins, which she removes only to sleep, as they have a special significance linked to her brother.

At first, Orihime had a full fringe that was parted before leaving most of it behind her ears when she was ready to leave for Soul Society. Seventeen months after Aizen’s defeat, her hair became fuller and thicker. Her bangs naturally frame her face without the aid of hair clips and also fall over her ears. She stops wearing her hair clips and instead attaches them to the left collar of her school uniform. It’s also worth noting that as an artist, she’s often seen in extravagant outfits, but seems to prefer Arrancar-like attire when engaged in battle.

POWERS AND CAPABILITIES
HIGH SPIRITUAL POWER

Orihime has the ability to approach many battles involving powerful opponents without being overwhelmed, such as the clashes between Ulquiorra Cifer and Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, and between Ichigo Kurosaki and Ulquiorra. During her basic Kidō training with Kūkaku Shiba, Orihime revealed a natural talent for the precise control of spiritual energy, quickly mastering this technique. Her own spiritual energy is a golden-yellow hue, and although there are times when it can intensify and influence the area around her, she remains naturally docile and calm in her demeanor, echoing her peaceful personality.

It seems that Orihime possesses a considerable degree of control over her powers, as she has the ability to detect spiritual energy with precision. She can sense the presence of Hollows and battles in progress even from a considerable distance. By concentrating, she can even sense the spiritual pressures of people inside protective barriers. She was even able to unconsciously resist the effects of Rukia Kuchiki’s Memory Chikan device, before fully understanding her own spiritual abilities, which enabled her to remember the event when her brother fought Ichigo.

EXPERT IN BODY-TO-BODY FIGHING

Despite her pacifist nature, Orihime has an innate talent for martial arts. She reveals that Tatsuki has given her some karate training. According to Tatsuki Arisawa, Orihime possesses fighting skills equivalent to a black belt. Orihime demonstrates great skill by neutralizing two lower-level Shinigami soldiers when she attacks them by surprise.

ENHANCED DURABILITY

Orihime possesses sufficient strength to survive separate attacks from Loly Aivirrne and Menoly Mallia, which included physical attacks as well as the use of Bala, and minor attacks from Nnoitra Gilga and Tesra Lindocruz. Some people also claim she has strong mental stamina.

SHUN SHUN RIKKA

The awakening of the Hōgyoku revealed Orihime’s true spiritual power, which lies in her ability to influence space and time in order to reject and deny certain events. When she expressed her curse of helplessness with her entire being, the Hōgyoku responded to her desire by materializing her heart into a physical form that granted her this power. Sōsuke Aizen describes this as “the rejection of events”. His ability allows him to limit, reject and cancel any type of event that has affected his target. It’s an ability that returns the target to its previous state, no matter what has happened to it; it’s a power that encroaches on the realm of divinity. With the help of Saori Sumeragi, Orihime has managed to strengthen and refine her power, as well as improve her control over her abilities.

SHUN SHUN RIKKA

The materialized form of Orihime’s power lies in the hairpins her brother gave her, containing his spiritual energy. The Shun Shun Rikka is made up of six spirits who work together in different combinations, following the spirit chant and technique name uttered by Orihime, to accomplish specific tasks. Only spiritually aware beings can see them. These spirits reside in her hairpins, which take the form of six-petal flowers. Each spirit is represented by two dots on a bar when inactive.

Hachigen Ushōda points out that his hairpins, as a physical manifestation of his powers, look very much like a Shinigami’s Zanpakutō, and that his powers are similar to hers. Tesra Lindocruz, when holding Orihime captive, warns her not to try to attack him, as he can easily break the physical container of his Shun Shun Rikka, the hairpins themselves, calling them ridiculously weak. The spirits are distinct manifestations of Orihime’s spirit, each with a unique appearance and personality. Each is named after a flower: Ayame, Baigon, Ayame, Hinagiku, Lily, Shun’ō and Tsubaki. They all have their own personalities, reflecting certain key aspects of Orihime’s personality.

By combining different spirits in different ways, Orihime has the power to reject phenomena by denying or nullifying events in various ways. This power can be used for attack, defense or healing, depending on the combination chosen. The effectiveness of her powers is directly influenced by Orihime’s determination. Feelings of doubt or worry weaken them, while conviction strengthens them. Orihime’s techniques involve incantations and the manipulation of Shun Shun Rikka into different groups. Although she initially needed to recite their kotodama to use her techniques, she has acquired enough training that she no longer needs to. Her kotodama consists of pronouncing the names of the members involved, followed by the name of the technique and the phrase “I reject” (私は拒絶する, watashi wa kyozetsu suru), referring to the nature of her powers.
