WHO IS JIREN?
Jiren is a rather endearing character because of his tragic story. He’s not just a two-dimensional villain, unlike most of the other antagonists in the Dragon Ball franchise. In the past, Jiren led a relatively peaceful life. However, everything changed when his village was destroyed by a mysterious criminal. Jiren was then taken in by Gicchin, who helped him become an extraordinary fighter. But the story doesn’t end there. The monster responsible for destroying his village has returned to kill Gicchin and his friends. 🗡
This strengthened Jiren’s resolve to fulfill his late master’s last wishes and become one of the most powerful fighters in the universe. Jiren’s power has reached such a level that there are rumors that he could even surpass a God of Destruction! 😮

GOKU VS JIREN
At first glance, Goku and Jiren are powerful and totally different characters, but on closer inspection, they share many similarities. On the one hand, both warriors were trained in the martial arts from an early age, after the death of their parents, but they also lost their masters during their training. Goku unwittingly killed Grandpa Gohan, while Jiren lost his master to a powerful enemy. 😭
More importantly, both characters attracted the attention of the Gods, even though they had no interest in becoming Gods of Destruction themselves. The reason Vegeta was one of Goku’s greatest enemies was that they were the last two known pure-bred survivors of their species. Although Jiren and Goku certainly don’t come from the same planet, their similarities suggest that they probably could have been friends if they’d been born in the same universe. 🪐
GOKU POWER
As you already know, Goku is the main protagonist of Akira Toriyama’s famous manga series Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. Over the years, he has undergone numerous transformations, each one conferring certain advantages. Unlike his previous forms, Ultra Instinct stands out as his most suitable form, and this has a lot to do with his personality. 🎭
In reality, there are very few people capable of defeating Goku.
One of Goku’s main character traits in anime is his constant drive to improve himself. For example, he never really appreciated the Super Saiyan God form, because he felt that the strength he had achieved didn’t really belong to him. As for Ultra Instinct, it makes sense that this would be his ultimate form, as it doesn’t simply add strength, but rather enhances his skills as a martial artist, which is very important to him. ♥
Ultra Instinct improves his senses throughout the saga, until naturally culminating in this form, and the benefits he gains from it depend entirely on how he uses it. The GOKU VS JIREN BATTLE DURING THE TOURNAMENT OF POWER
The aim of the Tournament of Power was to bring together the most powerful fighters from the 12 universes of the Dragon Ball saga, so that they could battle it out to save their existence. It brought to light the strongest mortals from each universe, and of course Goku and Jiren were among the most powerful. The two warriors pushed their limits and performed physical feats like never before in the franchise. 🤼♂️
They are undoubtedly the most powerful warriors in their respective universes, with both opponents training hard with the sole aim of one day surpassing the other given the lack of competition in their own respective universes (especially when Goku masters Ultra Instinct). 🌍
UPLOADING ULTRA INSTINCT
While it was Freezer who forced Goku to transform into a Super Saiyan for the first time, Jiren forced him to reach the stage of his final transformation: Ultra Instinct. While this ultimate technique is still new, the anime has taken a new twist, with fans still speculating on when Goku will access this divine state next. 🔮
Jiren definitely ushered in a new era in the DB Super saga, marking Goku and further narrowing the gap between him and the gods, putting Jiren on the same level of importance as Freezer.
While Goku Black had pushed Goku to the limit of his Super Saiyan Blue powers, this was one of the rare moments when an opponent was unable to force a new transformation on our hero. On the contrary, it was the opposite: Goku helped Goku Black unlock the powers of Super Saiyan Rosé. Jiren, on the other hand, was so powerful that their battle led Goku to break his limits when he briefly used the powers of Ultra Instinct. 🐱🏍
Goku has yet to master this new fighting strength, and it’s likely he never will, but unlike Goku Black, Jiren will always remain an inspiration for him to keep improving so that one day he can defeat Jiren on his own! 😊
DISSUASION OF JIREN
Jiren’s values were tested far more than Goku’s at the tournament, and in a desperate attempt to show Goku that the bonds he had built could be easily broken, the Universe 11 warrior launched an explosion into the stands that wiped out many of Goku’s friends. 🙌
While we’re certain that one of the angels would have deflected or nullified the blast, there’s no guarantee that they would have simply dodged it themselves, leaving the weaker members in the stands to suffer the full brunt of the attack. Although Goku managed to deflect the blast at the last second, he was furious. Even Freezer had never had the opportunity to kill so many of Goku’s closest allies in a single attack. 🧨

ULTRA INSTINCT MASTERED
At the Tournament of Power, we witnessed some incredible action with Goku in his Ultra Instinct form taking on Jiren in an epic battle. Although Jiren seemed stronger at first, Goku’s growing strength proved too much for him in the end. 💥
Although Jiren was very powerful thanks to his progressively increasing strength, it’s undeniable that Goku could surpass him in his mastered Ultra Instinct state, although we know that for Goku, regaining this form has been a challenge ever since. ⏲
GOKU VS JIREN
When Dragon Ball characters face extremely powerful enemies, they are forced to use their techniques in different ways in order to gain the upper hand over their opponent. For example, in his fight against Cell, Goku combined his instantaneous movement technique with the Kamehameha to deliver a blow he thought would be decisive, and in his fight against Freezer, he used a more powerful version of the spirit bomb. 💣
Against Jiren, each of these techniques failed, so Goku was forced to think outside the box to defeat his opponent using energy mines and a fake Destructo-Disk he borrowed from Krilin. Although these new strategies weren’t enough to ensure victory, Jiren accomplished what any great enemy normally does: force the hero to grow and develop his own skills. 🧾
GOKU BAT JIREN
Staying largely out of fights until he deemed his participation necessary, Jiren easily dominated the fighters established earlier in the series, with seemingly superior power levels, easily resisting Goku’s attacks at his Super Saiyan 2 stage and deflecting all his Super Saiyan God blows with a single finger. Even transformed into Super Saiyan Blue and using the Kaio-Ken technique, Goku was still no match for the Universe 11 fighter 😣
After Vegeta was able to break through Jiren’s fighting style and land a powerful blow in Super Saiyan Blue, surprising everyone, including Jiren himself, the stoic fighter began to use more of his true potential and overtook the prince of the Saiyans. It was only when Goku began to use the previously invisible Ultra Instinct form that Jiren smiled, finally facing an opponent worthy of him.
After Ultra Instinct disappeared, it took the combined efforts of Goku, Freezer and C-17 to finally eliminate Jiren from the ring and save the day. Goku defeats Jiren with the help of his allies, the Z-Fighters, in episode 131 of the Dragon Ball Super animated series, bringing the Tournament of Power to an end. 🔥PRODUCTS OF THE MOMENT🔥
