GOD SERENA (ゴッドセレナ GODDO SERENA) was part of the Arbaless empire, where he held the rank of Spriggan Twelve, under the orders of Emperor Spriggan. Before becoming a Spriggan Shield, he was a member of the Holy Ten Sorcerers and ranked first in power among the Four Heavenly Kings of Ishgar, making him the most powerful mage on the continent.
His nickname within the Arbaless empire was the Eight Dragon God Serena (八竜のゴッドセレナ Hachiryū no Goddo Serena) due to his ability to use eight different Lacrima to slay dragons.
APPARENCE
God Serena is a man with medium-length orange hair, wavy and spiked to resemble rabbit ears. He has thick eyebrows and a scar on the bridge of his nose.
He wears a fancy white dress with long sleeves and a blue belt, as well as blue pants. On his chest and neck, he wears a small red cape edged in white, a large collar and three yellow crescents aligned vertically on either side of his chest. His simple boots reach below the knees.
God Serena’s most striking feature is a large wheel of blades on her back that resembles a dharma wheel, giving her the superficial appearance of a divine figure, particularly the Japanese deity Raijin.
PERSONALITY
God Serena is a flamboyant individual, whose personality is described as deplorable by Makarov. He is extremely eccentric, fond of showing off and making unnecessary dramatic gestures even during simple conversations. He has extremely strong self-confidence, which allows him not only to ignore negative comments about his behavior, but also to regard them as compliments. After a crushing victory, God Serena condescends to his enemies. As he approaches the dying Warrod, he shows great arrogance by addressing him a farewell message in the name of “God bye-bye” (ゴッドバイバイ Goddo Bai Bai) with a mocking smile.
God Serena boasts of his arrogance when joking with his former Ten Saints colleagues, claiming that they’re not totally pathetic when they’re ready to counterattack. His arrogance has been described as ridiculously great by Hyberion himself. However, when he reveals his true strength as a dragon slayer, God Serena’s calm disappears and he becomes bloodthirsty, unhesitatingly using three of his eight dragon-slaying magics to inflict mortal wounds on his enemies before preparing to use a fourth to finish them off. When asked to stop, God Serena flashes a mischievous grin and sarcastically asks if his actions can be described as overzealous.
God Serena takes his status as a dragon slayer seriously and has absolute confidence in his power, claiming that all dragons are mere victims in the face of his might. When he sees Acnologia appear before him, God Serena is excited and surprised by the arrival of the Dragon King, whom he had been avoiding for some time. He even hints that the only reason he defected to the Arbaless empire was to locate and kill Acnologia.
HISTORY
God Serena possessed eight different Dragon Lacrima within him, giving him the powers of these elements as a second-generation Dragon Hunter. He was recognized as the strongest mage on the continent. Shortly after the end of the war between Fairy Tail and Tartaros, and the rebuilding of the Magic Council, God Serena defected to Zeref’s Arbaless Empire with the aim of locating and eliminating the notorious Black Dragon: Acnologia.
MAGIC AND CAPABILITIES
Dragon-slayer magic (滅竜魔法 Metsuryū Mahō): God Serena masters eight dragon-slayer magics of different elements, thanks to the Dragon Lacrima implanted in him. This makes him a second-generation Dragon Hunter. This mastery earned him the title of “Serena, god of the eight dragons” when he defected to the Arbaless Empire. August even nicknamed him “Hybrid Theory” because of his vast arsenal. However, he has only used five of the eight Dragon Hunter magics, and when he unleashes his true power and activates his magic, his sclerae turn dark blue and his irises become extremely small and completely white.
Dragon God’s Crook (竜神の牙 Ryūjin no Kiba): True to his alias, God Serena can project eight massive, destructive dragons that emerge from the ground to inflict damage.
Lightning Dragon Hunter’s Magic (雷の滅竜魔法 Kaminari no Metsuryū Mahō): This magic allows God Serena to control the element of lightning. As with other Dragon Hunter magics, he can consume lightning to restore his energy. He used this magic when he attacked Warrod in the eastern battle of the Arbaless War.
Cave Dragon Hunter’s Magic (岩窟の滅竜魔法 Gankutsu no Metsuryū Mahō): This magic gives God Serena complete control over the land. It can completely alter the landscape. Like other Dragon Hunter magics, it can also devour the earth to restore its energy. God Serena masters this magic by implanting one of eight Dragon Lacrima.
Earth Destruction of the Cave Dragon (岩窟竜の大地崩壊 Gankutsuryū no Daichi Hōkai): By striking the ground with her hands, God Serena destroys the earth in a relatively wide explosive radius. This not only damages her enemies’ legs, but also bombards them with large rocks fractured from the ground.
Purgatory Dragon Hunter magic (煉獄の滅竜魔法 Rengoku no Metsuryū Mahō): This magic uses fire and extreme levels of heat. Apart from its name, it is similar to Fire Dragon Hunter magic. As with other Dragon Hunter magics, God Serena can produce, control and devour the element he masters. He masters this magic through the implantation of a Dragon Lacrima.
Infernal Flames of Purgatory (煉獄竜の炎熱地獄 Rengokuryū no Ennetsu Jigoku): God Serena surrounds his clenched fist with flames and strikes his enemies. At the end of his punch, an extremely large sphere of flames surrounds his opponents. He can also project a jet of flames from one of his palms.
Neptune Dragon Hunter’s Magic (海王の滅竜魔法 Kaiō no Metsuryū Mahō): This magic gives God Serena total control over water. He can create, control and devour this element in large quantities.
Neptune’s Circular Formation (海王竜の水陣方円 Kaiōryū no Suijin Hōen) : God Serena can create a powerful torrent of water with a simple wave of his hands. He can also release it in the form of a spiraling vortex from one of his palms.
Storm Dragon Hunter’s Magic (暴風の滅竜魔法 Bōfū no Metsuryū Mahō): Although its precise use was not shown, God Serena prepared a spell generating huge whirlpools around his hands. As with other Dragon Hunter magics, it should be able to devour wind too.
Wind and Moon Song Roar (暴風竜の吟風弄月 Bōfūryū no Ginpū Rōgetsu): After a deep breath, God Serena releases a powerful blast of wind that is extremely destructive. However, this spell was destroyed by Gildarts Clive upon activation, leaving its true power unknown.
Immense durability: God Serena is highly resilient, surviving a combined attack from the power of the four remaining Ishgar gods and Jura Neekis without suffering damage.
Immense strength: God Serena possesses extreme physical strength, briefly rivaling Gildarts Clive, although his strength is not at his former level.
Immense magical power: As a member of the Spriggan Twelve and Ishgar’s most powerful former mage, God Serena possesses an extremely high level of magical power. His power is comparable to that of his colleague Brandish, reputed to have toppled entire countries single-handedly, and exceeds that of Makarov Draer according to Brandish. He wiped out the Bosco nation and all its guilds with the help of Jacob and August. He also single-handedly defeated the four gods of Ishgar and Jura Neekis without a scratch.
