The Anime Awards 2022, organized by Crunchyroll, have revealed their full list of winners. This year, over 17 million fans from all over the world voted for their favorite series, a significant increase on the previous year. The votes were combined with the choices of an international panel of judges to determine the winners in each category.

One of the big winners of the evening was the first part of the final season of “Attack on Titan”, which took home the award for Anime of the Year and Best Antagonist for the character of Eren Jaeger. Another big winner was “Jujutsu Kaisen”, which took Best Girl for Nobara Kugisaki, Best Fight for Yuji Itadori & Aoi Todo vs. Hanami, and Best Action.

Other notable winners included “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc”, which took home awards for Best Animation, Best Score and Best Anime Ending. “To Your Eternity” won Best Drama, “Horimiya” won Best Romance, “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2” won Best Fantasy and “Komi Can’t Communicate” won Best Comedy.

Notable surprises included ODDTAXI’s wins in the Best Protagonist and Best Director categories, and René Dawn-Claude’s victory in the Best Doubles Performance (German) category for his role as Satoru Gojo in “Jujutsu Kaisen” (season 2).

However, some fans were disappointed that “Wonder Egg Priority” didn’t win any awards despite being nominated in several categories. The series was widely praised when it first aired, but was later criticized for its lackluster ending and a drop in quality in the second half of the series.

The Anime Awards 2022 once again showed the popularity and diversity of the Japanese animation world, and highlighted some of last year’s best productions.
