If you’re a true fan of the Dragon Ball saga, you’re no doubt familiar with the abundance of powerful enemies our heroes have had to face. These include such iconic characters as Freezer, Cell and Majin Buu. However, since the arrival of the new Dragon Ball Super series, new villains have been introduced, delighting fans. Characters such as Hit, Black Goku and the mysterious Jiren have made their appearance, much to our delight! 😮
Jiren, featured in the Dragon Ball saga, is a fascinating character full of mystery. Since his first appearances at the Tournament of Power, we’ve managed to catch a glimpse of certain elements of his story that deserve to be explored in greater depth. 💡
Indeed, in the Tournament of Power arc of both the anime and the manga, we learn rather little about Jiren. His atypical appearance and his ideology that strength is all that matters to achieve his goals rather than friendship piqued our curiosity. So we’ve identified 10 mysteries about Jiren in Dragon Ball Super that we hope to unravel soon. Let’s get started! 💨 🔥PRODUCTS OF THE MOMENT🔥
10. JIREN’S POWER
You’re probably wondering how Jiren became so powerful. During the Tournament of Power arc, we learn more about his past and how a mysterious criminal killed his master, his peers and his family. Since then, Jiren has been driven by the idea that only strength matters to achieve his goals, regardless of friendship. 💪
However, this still doesn’t explain how he acquired such power. Was he trained by another master? Did the Pride Troopers play a role in his superhuman development? Or did he simply hone his skills by spending years with the Pride Troopers? These questions remain unanswered. ❓
9. THE PRIDE TROOPERS
The Pride Troopers are a group of characters who could be compared to space cops. However, like Jiren, we know very little about them, apart from what they represent and a few interactions between Toppo and Jiren. How exactly was Jiren recruited? Why does Jiren seem indifferent to them despite the respect the team members have for him? 🤔
If Jiren valued strength over friendship, he probably wouldn’t be part of the Pride Troopers. These interactions could have contributed to a better understanding of Jiren’s history and personality, but they were largely ignored. 👌
8. JIREN’S FAMILY WEIGHT
We know very little about the mysterious criminal who helped forge Jiren’s thirst for power and make him the strongest fighter in Universe 11. What became of this evil-doer? Has Jiren vanquished him or is he still looking for him? 🔎
It’s possible that this villain will be revealed at a later date in the sequel to the Dragon Ball Super series, but for now, this plot hasn’t been developed enough to be truly meaningful. 😫
7. JIREN’S POWER
At the climax of the Tournament of Power, Jiren begins to be overwhelmed by Goku’s Ultra Instinct. This pushes him to push back his limits to surpass himself. As a result, he becomes powerful enough to take on the Ultra Instinct form, a transformation that not even the Gods of Destruction had been able to overcome. If his aura is anything to go by, it’s possible that his power is similar to Ultra Instinct, but other than that, it remains a mystery. 🔆
Unfortunately, we have no prior information on how Jiren obtained a form similar to Ultra Instinct, unless his meditation is considered proof. Furthermore, the higher stage of this transformation has been presented as the result of zenkai-like reinforcement. To date, Ultra Instinct is only available to Saiyans, unless Jiren is one… 😶
5. HE CAN TRANSCEND TIME
During the Tournament of Power, Hit tried to fight Jiren alone. However, this only served to demonstrate to the public that Hit posed no threat to Jiren, despite his ability to manipulate time. This isn’t surprising, as during the tournament against Universe 6, Goku had already briefly surpassed Hit using the Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken x10. 🔥
What’s baffling is Jiren’s ability to transcend time itself while trapped in the temporal prison created by Hit. How can you break a temporal alteration while suspended in time yourself? Goku had to use the Kaioken form to break the time jump, but Jiren breaks the temporal suspension with his eyes alone. Strange, isn’t it? 👀
4. JIREN MASTERS LEVITATION
One of the rules established during the tournament is that participants cannot fly in the combat zone. This was confirmed when Goku tried to fly and was brought straight back to the arena. Characters therefore had to rely on strategy rather than the use of space to win the tournament. However, Jiren was shown meditating in levitation at the start of the tournament. 🧘♂️
Although flight and levitation are technically different, both techniques allow you to remain suspended in the air. Goku and his friends could only jump very high, while Jiren seemed to levitate in place, thus breaking the rule. How was this tolerated? 😲
3. DRAGON BALL SUPER HEROES
Dragon Ball Super Heroes is a spin-off series broadcast only in Japan, comprising short, non-canonical episodes aimed at fans. The series focuses on certain parts of the original saga, resulting in a reduction of the power scale as presented in traditional anime. One moment in particular drew the ire of fans, as the all-powerful Jiren failed to escape the cubic prison erected by Hearts. As a reminder, Hearts is the main antagonist of the Heroes saga, whose goal is to destroy Zen’ô. 💣
The problem lies in the fact that Hearts shouldn’t be powerful enough to hold back Jiren, especially when characters such as fused Zamasu have failed to defeat him. What’s more, in episode 13, we see that Hearts, in his transformed form, fights Goku in Super Saiyan Blue almost equally in terms of power. So it’s hard to understand how Hearts can hold back Jiren in a much weaker form. It seems incoherent, doesn’t it? 😅
2. HIS AVERSION TO THE SAIYANS
This is one of the most pronounced flaws Jiren shares with other villains in the Dragon Ball universe. He constantly underestimates the Saiyans. However, during the Tournament of Power, Jiren was probably one of the characters who most underestimated the Saiyans, with the possible exception of Freezer. 😂
His arrogance in letting the tournament drag on was directly linked to his underestimation of the Saiyans. This was nothing new, as all tournament participants experienced a progression in power over time. In fact, Jiren felt this progression every time he faced Goku. This arrogance eventually led to his downfall, one that could have been avoided. 🤔
1. JIREN AT THE POWER TOURNAMENT
Jiren is the most powerful fighter in Universe 11, but that doesn’t mean he’s the most humble. For much of the Tournament of Power, Jiren adopted a passive approach. He preferred to meditate or attack only when provoked, adopting a detached style of defense. One wonders why he did so. He could have been a major asset to his team, especially when their universe was at stake against Zen’ô. 👨👨👧👦
Despite these mysteries, Jiren remains a powerful and intriguing character who has captivated many fans, like you! Don’t hesitate to complete your Dragon Ball collection with our figurine of Jiren in Dragon Ball Super! 🔥PRODUCTS OF THE MOMENT🔥
